We all love Elmer the Elephant, I certainly always have and my boys love the books too, in order to celebrate Elmers 30th birthday SockShop have created some fabulous Elmer Bamboo socks and help to raise money and awareness for anti-bullying charity Kidscape’s Friendship Friday & Anti-bullying week and they have kindly sent us a pair to help to promote.

Friendship Friday is celebrated on 8th November 2019, with Anti-Bullying Week, coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, celebrated from the 11th-15th November.
The focus of Friendship Friday and Anti-Bullying Week this year is ‘Change Starts With Us’, encouraging everyone to see they have a role to play in creating a world that is friendlier and kinder.
We all have a role to play in creating kind and supportive communities where children and young people can feel safe and supported.  This Friendship Friday and Anti-Bullying Week ‘Change Starts With Us’ helps us think about what we can all do to create a better world.
Anti-bullying is a cause very close to my heart as I myself was bullied throughout school and know how damaging it can be. I do believe that education around empathy is the key and teaching children from the beginning how to be kind and accepting of difference, whatever shape that comes in. The world is multi-coloured in every way in ideologies, gender and race and background and abilities, so using Elmer a multicoloured patchwork elephant as a symbol for anti bullying, especially for young children, I think is a wonderful idea.
I am going to be proudly sporting my Bamboo Elmer socks this week to help promote this very worthwhile cause. Pick up yours at theSockShop.com for the £4.99 with 10% going to Kidscape to help with the campaign.
These socks will definitely take away any winter blues whilst they’re at it. :). You can read all about why I love Bamboo so much as a fabric here.
