It is, as illustrated in my previous post, much more tricky than you might think to source high meat content cat food in the UK, with some of the top brands, Sheba, Whiskers and Felix offering just 4% meat! When cats are obligate carnivores and as such need the highest content of meat in their food as possible without all the nasty additives this just isn’t good enough.
We had a solution in the Happy Kitty Co, who import high meat content cat food from Germany, such as MACs and then sell on to the UK market, who we love and we have used since we brought our kittens home almost 4 yrs ago, but I’m sad to say we heard from them last week that they are unfortunately having to close as they just weren’t turning enough profit to keep going – so so sad when this happens to such a good company.
I have been hunting for a solution since we have heard from them and were considering ordering directly from Germany ourselves, in fact I have placed an order which I am now trying to cancel as I have just found this, (interestingly also made in Germany – the land of happy cats) excellent value and just what we are after, so I thought I would share with you 🙂 (click photo to follow link)- happy cat parenting:
