Over last weekend, I was given the opportunity to product test one of bakerdays postal birthday cakes which I used to take to the restaurant for my Dad’s birthday dinner.
For a similar price to a lovely bunch of flowers this is an excellent alternative birthday treat for your friends and family. There is a huge variety on bakerdays website of cakes of all different designs for all different celebrations and many different sizes too (from 5 to 12 inches), but what I liked about the one which my product tested (Letterbox Gift Cake – 5 inches) is perfect really for four people to have a nice slice of cake at the end of a celebratory meal and it fits through your letterbox.
The cake is beautifully packaged with a really nice inclusive tin and also a card on top saying “just for you” and then when you open it, it has your personalised design on the inside of the cake and it’s on a lovely little cake board with the pull-out piece of paper so you can easily lift the cake out of the tin without damaging it in any way.
The cake comes in a variety of different flavours as well including traditional sponge, lovely lemon drizzle, half chocolate/half sponge, gluten wheat free sponge, dairy free sponge and rich chocolate chip. I chose to go for the lovely lemon drizzle cake, which is one of my favorites in flavour of cake anyway, but this really was a delicious cake with a delicious marshmallow-like icing on top. I would recommend the service, the packaging and the cake itself 🙂 – It really was a lovely birthday treat.
